Organizing Frequently Questions
2. What should I do to prepare for your visit?
Absolutely nothing! Seeing how you truly use your space will help me to design a system specific to you and your family’s needs.
3. Is this just about throwing things out?
No, it's not. Although, you may identify items you're willing to part with, organizing is really all about simplifying your life. Along the way you will discover what's really important to you, and getting organized will help you keep your focus on those things. Creating a system that works for you will help you do just that. I do strongly recommend disposing of your unwanted items responsibly, by either donating them to your favorite charity, or selling them.
4. How Does It Work?
You can't get organized in a day. Getting organized is a lifestyle change, not just a one-time fix. You must respect how long the disorganization has been going on. An up to 1 hour complimentary evaluation is scheduled to review your individual needs. We customize and prioritize a program specifically for you, specifically for the project or space you wish to organize.
Our work is done in a confidential, non-judgmental, and patient manner.
5. How Long Does It Take?
We schedule blocks of time from a three hour minimum to five hours. The number of sessions depends on the scope of the project or area, as well as your participation, your ability to make decisions and the length of time we're able to work without interruption.
6. What does a Professional Organizer do?
There are Professional Organizers that specialize in different areas including: home organizing, moving, paper management, bill organizing, file systems, chronic disorganization, time management, event planning, goal setting, project management, and more. They help guide the client toward a more efficient , organized lifestyle. The organizer does this through hands- on assistance, publications, phone or email consulting, and more.
7. Why should someone hire a Professional Organizer?
If you’ve tried and tried to get organized and can’t seem to, wouldn’t it seem logical to hire someone that is good at what you’re trying to accomplish. People hire trainers to help them with their physique, accountants to help them with their finances, consultants to help them with situations at work, and painters to paint their house. Hiring a Professional Organizer will get you going on getting organized and teach you systems on how to stay organized so you can enjoy your life.
8. So what about supplies we might need?
Together, we’ll identify your need for new purchases, both for functional storage and any styling accessories you’d like to add to the space. It’s up to you whether I shop for these items alone, or whether you join me for one of my popular Shop with an Organizer trips. And naturally, you can make purchases on your own, too.
9. How will I stay organized afterward?
The difference between good organizing and great organizing is in finding a system which is tailored to work for you. I’ll pay careful attention to your needs and requirements in recommending practical, effective solutions. Moreover, as we work together, I’ll be giving you tips and suggestions for staying organized. In addition, many clients find an occasional follow-up visit can be very worthwhile.
10. Will working with you be like one of those TV shows?
Yes and no. TV shows usually involve large teams, take about 32 hours of filming and condense it into 22 minutes of dramatic and emotional action. You will likely find our work to be more gently paced, with less drama. I will not push you into decisions which make you uncomfortable, and I won’t spread your possessions all over the sidewalk.
